When my time comes around Lay me gently in the cold dark earth. No grave can hold my body down I’ll crawl home to her

On a rainy day, I spent listening to this song… Somewhere inside me the lyrics perfectly connected all the dots inside my heart. No words can aptly describe some of the memories in our lives. After “Take Me To Church” I think this is the second best song I have heard from Hozier.

The lyrics are here:

Boys workin’ on empty
Is that the kind’a way to face the burning heat?
I just think about my baby
I’m so full of love I could barely eat
There’s nothing sweeter than my baby
I’d never want once from the cherry tree
‘Cause my baby’s sweet as can be
She give me toothaches just from kissin’ me
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I’ll crawl home to her
Boys when my baby found me
I was three days on a drunken sin
I woke with her walls around me
Nothin’ in her room but an empty crib
And I was burnin’ up a fever
I didn’t care much how long I lived
But I swear I thought I dreamed her
She never asked me once about the wrong I did
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I’ll crawl home to her
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I’ll crawl home to her
My baby never fret none
About what my hands and my body done
If the lord don’t forgive me
I’d still have my baby and my babe would have me
When I was kissing on my baby
And she put her love down soft and sweet
In the lowland plot I was free
Heaven and hell were words to me
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I’ll crawl home to her
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I’ll crawl home to her

#10 – Breathe Me By Sia

Here is yet another song which quite a much touched my heart and the reason why I like the song so much is because of the fact that it speaks of the grave realities that a person faces when he is subjected to self harm. Particularly, depression.

Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And the worst part is there’s no one else to blame

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Ouch, I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah, I think that I might break
Lost myself again and I feel unsafe

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Although, I have listened to so many remix versions of the same song. This one by Mylo, sticks to my heart the most.

#7 – I would do anything for you

Here comes a recommendation, straight from Youtube, long ago, which went on to become one of my favorite tracks

I did not like the tune of the song at first, but once I opened the lyrics and started listening to it… it became one of my favorite tracks. Today I would like to share it with you all…

Never wanna stand up for myself
Never wanna get in the way, I said it
I don’t know what the plan is,
But you can share with me, ‘cause I’ll
Be listening here,
To everything you say, I won’t turn away
And I will listen, open up my heart and
I must say that I love you, so

Oo la love, I’ve fallen in love, and it’s better this time than ever before
Oo la love, I’ve fallen in love, and it’s better this time than I’ve ever known

Every day is a battle I face
Strange life i live but its what you’ve decided
I’ll give it all into your hands,
Do what you will with me, and oh
I’ll smile when you speak
Remember all those times I was hoping for something
And shaking my head from all I have done
But you never left me

Oo la love, I’ve fallen in love, and it’s better this time than ever before
Oo la love, I’ve fallen in love, and it’s better this time than I’ve ever known
Oo la love, I’ve fallen in love, and it’s better this time than ever before
Oo la love, I’ve fallen in love, and it’s better this time than I’ve ever known

Give it up for you, I would give it up for you
I would give it up for you, I’d do anything for you

Oo la love, I’ve fallen in love, and it’s better this time than ever before
Oo la love, I’ve fallen in love, and it’s better this time than I’ve ever known
Oo la love, I’ve fallen in love, and it’s better this time than ever before
Oo la love, I’ve fallen in love, and it’s better this time than I’ve ever known

I have fallen in love
I have fallen in love
I have fallen in love

A Song A Day #5 – Songs (Aug-1st week)

blog title designs

Here are the songs sent to me by A Song A Day for this week. Comments in Italics are sent to me by curators.

Lianne La Havas – What You Don’t Do (Tom Misch Remix)

20-years old and already a proven track of jamming records behind him. Tom Misch gives the best turn to this lovely song!

Sylvan Esso – H.S.K.T

I’m aspiring to be able to kick as high as Amelia Meath does when dancing onstage. So here’s to my practice music and sending you off into the the rest of the week with some beatssss.

Strange by Laura Marling

This song is the most … something … I can recall. Is restrained rage the sort of term I am looking for? Not really totally sure … But I do know I really, really like it.

“Lovely You” by Monster Rally

Ted Feighan (aka Monster Rally) has single-handedly perfected the genre affectionately known as “tropical pop.” I was recently in Santa Cruz, and needless to say, MR was the perfect soundtrack. He has newer stuff out, but this is my favorite track of his at the moment.

This song by Karmin is suggested to me by one of the amazing bloggers here, ChristyBharath. I liked it very much.

Please feel free to suggest me some more songs.

A Song A Day #4 – “Hailside” by Júníus Meyvant

This song was sent to me by Shannon. And she says

I can’t really explain it, but this song and well, almost all of his songs makes me feel like I am about to cry…and I’m not much of a cryer. I had to share the live recording because, come on, man.

Thanks Shannon for the wonderful song 🙂

A Song A Day #2 – “Pretty Pimpin'” by Kurt Vile

shannon bryne

Once again Shannon has sent me a song by Matador Records….

Here is what she has to say about the song.

Kurt Vile has a new track out, and it’s a little repetitive, but really catchy and kind of sad. Then again, I admittedly have a soft spot for Kurt. Also, this song songs a lot better with good headphones, fwiw.

I personally liked the song. Thanks Shannon.
